    WHO IS PARVESH VERMA


    Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma is an Indian politician affiliated to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Currently, he is a Member of Parliament from the West Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency.
     
    Verma is a son of former senior BJP politician and Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma.
     
    Parvesh Verma was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014, and subsequently re-elected in the 2019 national elections. Since September 1, 2014, he has served as a member of the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament and a member of the Standing Committee on Urban Development. In the 2013 Delhi Assembly election, he contested from the Mehrauli constituency and defeated his Congress rival Yoganand Shastri, who was the incumbent Delhi Vidhan Sabha speaker at the time.
     
    He also served as a member of the Delhi BJP election committee for the 2013 Assembly election.
     
    In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Verma defeated his Congress rival Mahabal Mishra, who had been an MP from West Delhi since 2009, by a margin of 578,486 votes. Verma not only broke his own record but also set a record as candidate with the highest victory margin in Delhi.
     
    Born on 7 November 1977, Verma went to Kirori Mal College of the Delhi University (DU), and also received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Fore School of Management.

    For the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP has again placed its bets on Sharma, fielding him from the Vishwas Nagar constituency. He is pitted against Deepak Singla of the AAP and Gurcharan Singh Raju of the Congress.
